The Heart of County Government and Civic Life

The Armstrong County Courthouse has stood at the center of Kittanning for more than a century, serving as the seat of county government and a symbol of justice, civic responsibility, and community leadership.

Constructed in the early 1900s, the courthouse reflects the optimism and permanence of its era. Its commanding architecture was designed to represent stability, fairness, and the rule of law—values that remain essential to Armstrong County today.

Beyond its legal function, the courthouse has long been a gathering place for the community. From public meetings and historic announcements to peaceful demonstrations and civic celebrations, its steps and halls have witnessed moments that shaped local history.

As Armstrong County marks America’s 250th anniversary, the courthouse stands as a reminder that democracy is lived locally—through public service, civic engagement, and the shared responsibility of self-government.
