Dayton Area Historical Society & The Marshall House
The Dayton Historical Society is dedicated to preserving and sharing the rich history of Dayton and the surrounding Armstrong County region. Through careful stewardship, research, and community engagement, the Society ensures that local stories, artifacts, and traditions remain accessible for future generations.
At the heart of this mission stands The Marshall House, one of Dayton’s most treasured historic landmarks. Built in the mid-19th century, the Marshall House reflects the architectural style and domestic life of the era, offering a tangible connection to the people who shaped the community during a period of growth and change in western Pennsylvania.
The home has served many roles over the years and today functions as a living museum, filled with period furnishings, household items, and exhibits that illustrate everyday life in Dayton’s past. Through guided tours, educational programs, and special events, visitors are invited to step inside history and experience the stories of those who lived and worked in the region.
As Armstrong County joins the nation in celebrating America’s 250th anniversary, the Dayton Historical Society and the Marshall House remind us that national history is built from local stories. Preserving places like the Marshall House helps honor the resilience, craftsmanship, and community spirit that continue to define Dayton and Armstrong County today.
